Ouch, tangles and knots in your beard, annoying. Especially men with a long or curly beard often suffer from this. That can sometimes be quite painful when you comb your beard. These are 3 tips to get tangles out of your beard.
1. Use beard oil daily
Tackle the problem at the root, literally: use a nourishing beard oil daily and massage it well into the beard hairs and the underlying skin. The hairs and skin are nourished and cared for by the oil, which makes the hairs softer and prevents dryness of skin and hair. Dryness is often the cause of tangles in the beard, so you have tackled that right away.
2. Use a beard brush daily
By brushing your beard daily, you prevent tangles. A good brushing session means that you also massage the skin under the beard, as it were, which scrubs the skin. For a healthy, supple beard, a healthy base - the skin - is of great importance.
3. Comb the beard
A long, curly beard requires good tools. A wide-toothed beard comb is essential, as it pulls less on the beard hairs than a narrow-toothed comb. Comb slowly and start at the end of the beard, as soon as that part is tangle-free, grab a piece. And work your way up. So don't just start combing at the top, because then you'll just comb the tangles towards each other, which will create larger tangles and can make the whole thing quite painful. Extra tip: comb the beard after showering and applying beard oil.
